Light the Year Lantern Light-Up Card

Light-the-Year-Light-Up-Christmas-Card-Stampin-Up

Hello and welcome to my blog! This card is a light-up card made with a small mini circuit light and copper foil tape. The above card is with the light on. The below picture is without the light on. You could make this card without the electronics parts, and it would be just as pretty. I have posted several pictures of the card, and there are links below for a free tutorial with all the dimensions and also a link to a video showing you how to make this card.

I used the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder for the Pebble Path piece.

On the Country Woods piece, mark a dot 2" up from the bottom and 1 7/8" over. Punch a small hole where the dot is. This is where your light will shine through.

Adhere the Pebbled Path Piece and the Country Woods Designer Series Paper together with dimensionals. Place this piece on your card front and mark a dot through the hole. This is the placement for your light.

On the front of the card base, adhere a folded rectangle about 1 1/4" x 3/4" to the bottom right-hand corner, staying about 1" from the sides. Run the copper foil tape as pictured below. Note the tape runs on each side of the dot where your light is to go. Don't let the tapes touch each. Place your battery in the rectangle on the tape.

Place thick dimensional strips on 3 sides of the battery to keep it in the battery compartment.

Close the top of the battery compartment down and, tada, your light should light up. Adhere the top of the battery compartment down with the strips.

Adhere the Pebbled Path/Country Wood Designer Series Paper piece to the card front with the light shining through the hole.

To make the lantern, stamp it on vellum with Pebbled Path ink and Cherry Cobbler for the candle. Heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder to keep it from smearing. Cut with the coordinating die and color, on the back, with the Dark Daffodil Delight Blend and the Cherry Cobbler Blend. I colored the flame with a Crushed Curry Marker. Using dimensionals, adhere your lantern to the card front with the candle flame right over the light.

To dress up the lantern, I cut 2 Garden Green boughs with a die from Sophisticated Sled and adhered below the lantern. 2 pod stems were punch out of red glimmer paper with the Bough Punch. They were adhered in the Garden Green boughs. One of the Cherry Cobbler & Pearl Adhesive-Backed Berries were adhered to the center of the greenery, and a Real Red bow was adhered to the top of the lantern.

This is how I completed the inside.
